Formed in 2017, the Puma Cubs are the mini rugby section of Locks Heath Pumas RFC and are becoming one of the fastest growing junior rugby clubs in the area. Having started with only a handful of members, made up mainly of senior players’ children, we have grown into a Club with more than 165 chlidren registered from the ages of 4 up to 13 (Year R to Year 8) and we are looking to expand year on year as we build our player base further.
When it comes to our coaching philosophy, we are very conscious of developing our players on an individual basis, taking into account the needs of the individual children. We are a fully inclusive club and welcome children of all abilities.
We have a dedicated team of DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked and qualified volunteers and coaches, whose aim is provide children the opportunity to play rugby in a safe, friendly and fun environment adhering to the RFU Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS).
We have strong links with the senior club and try to give our Puma Cubs as many opportunities as possible to be mascot at their league matches.
We are strong believers in being an integral part of the community and look forward to doing more local events such as the "Show on the Green" as well as fostering links with all local schools.
Hopefully, at all matches in the coming season, our Cubs will get the chance to wear the fantastic new playing kit that was purchased at the end of the 2019 / 20 season and is sure to make the Puma Cubs stand out from the crowd with its striking design.
Although we are fundamentally about rugby, we also believe in having fun and take every opportunity to get everyone involved, be that at the various social events we organise throughout the year, at the annual end of season water-fight or when we hold our Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day Races. So be prepared to get involved as the Club wouldn’t be what it is without you!!
