New Player set up

One of my roles is to help bring in all players who are looking to join the Pumas next season and give you some more information.

We are an established but continually growing community based rugby club and I am glad you found our club and some information to become involved in Touch Rugby or Training over the summer.

We currently run 3 men's sides and are always looking for new players to find the right level for them to get enjoyment from the sport. Our latest fixture lists are on the menu bar above, which will give you some idea of the matches we play across the Hampshire Leagues.

Your timing is perfect as you are looking to join us at an exciting time. For the last 25 years we have been a nomadic club, training at one location, playing at another and socialising somewhere else. All I can say is that the members that join us really enjoy their rugby as we do not have the traditional big rugby club mentality. Our young committee is backed up by our members working hard to train and play plus we also offer a lot of social activity for you and your family to get involved with. We have a number of guys in the forces and the police so are used to players working shift patterns. We are also looking to run some floodlight matches this season during weekdays to also cater for guys that struggle to make Saturdays.

However, we have realised that as the Pumas continue to grow (including the growth of our minis sides "the Puma Cubs"), we need new facilities to help scale the club to offer a good environment for players (old and young), supporters and your family members. So we are actively pursuing to find a ground of our own. However for this season we will be playing at a location familiar to you at the University site along Wide Lane, Southampton.

All information regarding training is found on our website (Training | Locksheath Pumas RFC) with our sessions running...

  • Sept - March - Thursdays on grass 7pm start time - Hook with Warsash school, Church Road, Warsash, SO31 9GF

There is plenty of parking at the school. The sessions are hard work but great fun. Our Head Coach is Liam Moggeridge and Club Captain Kent Streek, so seek them out and they will help you get settled.

Depending on what your thoughts are to join the club, if wish to play we control our availability through Spond. Click on the following link https://group.spond.com/KBKNR . Download the App and enter the Club code to gain access to all events happening within the club including social activities.

Once done we also run a Player WhatsApp group to share info quickly. If not already in the group, kindly let me know if wish adding to this group! I have to ask due to confidentiality rules.

There is no rush but if you wish to join the Pumas I need to register you with the RFU and this season I need you to complete the Registration form. Just fill it out and send back a signed copy and a picture to the Club Secretary Tom (secretary@locksheathpumas.com). You will then be added to our distribution list (email, and WhatsApp) for all rugby information.

On the financial side we ask our members to set up a standing order for your membership. It is £20 per month for 12 months as we run a full program of rugby and events throughout the year. For your membership you get...
